Synopsis

At the age of 3, Dr. Ming Jie Wu witnessed his father cure his sister's asthma with ancient Chinese herbs.  This left a deep impression on young Ming, who was amazed.  At a tender age Ming decided to dedicate himself to the ancient practice of Taoist Chinese Medicine (TCM) like his father and grandfather before him.  TCM is based on taoist philosophy.  Health is achieved through the balance and harmony of the whole body system, mind and spirit.  This interconnected and interdependent relationship is understood as yin and yang.

Experience Ming’s story, philosophy, and wisdom, as he teaches and heals in China and the U.S.  His practices and beliefs are almost but lost in modern day.  He encourages and teaches us to take back our power, gain a deeper understanding of “Who Am I” and maintain a healthy balance.   We see that much of this is in stark contrast to the western approach to medicine and health.  Ming wants us not to be a passive patient, but to learn how to take care of ourselves and then teach and help others.

The teachings are deep.  The interactions touching.  The testimonies heart wrenching and triumphant.   You may learn, perhaps even awaken. You may cry and you may cheer.  This documentary will touch your spirit and uplift your soul.

BIO

Alicia O’Hara, CHT, CLC is a Certified Hypnotherapist and Life Coach with additional studies and certifications in Meditation, Energy Healing, Intuitive Coaching, and Clairvoyance. Her personalized sessions and session programs, uniquely combine hypnotherapy, behavioral techniques, and life coaching to help clients move past their challenges and create lasting change in all areas of life.

“Before becoming a healing arts practitioner, I studied and practiced interior design, and worked as a liaison officer helping students transition into their professional careers. These earlier experiences gave me insight and understanding into the challenges that can surface as people face transition and change, and it was through these insights, I realized I wanted to help others create change and evolve on a much deeper level.

To help others, you must first be willing to help yourself and in 2004, I began studying alternative therapies for my own personal growth.  Through the formal study of a variety of modalities, including those that I have become certified in, I discovered that everything we need to know to empower ourselves, overcome the struggle, and achieve our deepest, desired goals, is already inside of us.

In 2009, I put these skills into practice and today, my inspiration comes from being able to help others do the same."

Guangzhou TCM University Student Support Fund

US China Chan Cultural Exchange Association is collaborating with Wu Healing Center to raise funding for a new program: Guangzhou TCM University Student Support Fund!

We need your help!

This fund is to help those students in their finial year at Guangzhou TCM University, who don't have the financial means to finish their college education. We are hoping to sponsor 60 students. Each student will be offered RMB 4000 ($580). Our goal is to raise a total of RMB 240,000 ($35,000).

The number of TCM doctors in China is decreasing. We may lose those precious TCM knowledges and methods, which have been passed down through many generations, and have saved the lives of many people, if there are not enough students to study Chinese medicine. For this, we need your help!

Chan Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization recognized by IRS (EIN: 27-3926161). All donations are tax-deductible in the U.S. to the extent allowed by law.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Qigong-Quick Relief For Balance In Your Life

  • Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body (map)

Dr. Wu and Jennifer Delorenzo, LICSW, have kindly agreed to jointly host a workshop on "Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Qigong-quick relief for balance in your life". A rare opportunity to learn many useful techniques/methods to heal your body and mind!

1-3pm: Qi Gong to clear blocked energy and achieve optimal health (By Dr. Ming Wu)

3-5pm: EFT (by Jennifer Delorenzo)

Fee: $100/person

Only 20 spots available, so register ASAP!

About EFT

Commonly referred to as “tapping,” EFT is a somatic approach to facilitating change that integrates Eastern and Western perspectives. Leveraging the Chinese meridian system by tapping on meridian points with your fingertips, it compliments conventional “talk therapy” to accelerate the therapeutic process. In her work with clients, Jenn has found EFT particularly effective at helping to control anxiety, overcoming the blockage of limiting beliefs and alleviating pain or cravings.

The workshop reviews the basics of EFT, including its origin, how it looks at trauma and illustrative case studies. Jenn will also demonstrate the technique and lead the group in a basic tapping exercise. Advanced usage of the technique will also be shown with the help of a volunteer. Finally, she will use the “Getting to the Bottom of It” technique developed by Lori Lamont to help attendees identify cognitive and emotional blocks preventing them from creating or being what they desire in their lives (e.g., finding love, getting a new job, writing that book, leaving an unhealthy relationship, etc.).

This workshop is appropriate for EFT beginners, but also people who have some experience using the technique. It is designed to be very practical in nature, with a focus on how attendees can use various types of tapping on their own.

Jennifer is a Certified Level II Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner, a Brainspotting practitioner and a  Certified Level I Qigong Instructor.

Be In Wellness presents

Dr. Amy Matthews  of All Creatures Holistic Health

Dr. Amy Matthews will be returning to the Be In Wellness panel to talk about how the emotional lives of our animals affect their medical and behavioral diagnoses. She will cover some critical basics, such as some of the major emotional stressors encountered as well as the importance of really communicating with your pets about events that affect them. In addition, she will review a few cases and how understanding the emotional background helped improve or resolve their issues.

$15 Admission

More about our fabulous guest.

Amy Matthews, VMD Ph.D
Dr. Matthews grew up in a household that embraced all healing options, with an M.D. for a father and chronic illness in the family that caused them to explore all holistic options. Her own formal education echoes that early start. She went to the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship to pursue the full breadth of Western scientific knowledge and graduated with a VMD as well as a Ph.D. in Immunology.  Her immunology thesis lab explored cancer vaccines, oral immune tolerance, and brain-specific immune responses because immunology is just that interesting!  After interning with a specialty clinic for a year, and spending another year in general medicine, she realized she longed for better options to support health and started a journey in holistic healing options that continues today.  In 2004 she was trained in NAET, an allergy treatment that helped resolve her own allergy symptoms. In 2005 she became a veterinary acupuncturist after studying at Colorado State University.  In 2006 she trained in chiropractic with Pedro Rivera at the Chi Healing Institute, and then in 2007 pursued advanced chiropractic training with Carl DeStefano of Health Pioneers Institute.  Since then, there has been in-depth training in Chinese herbal medicine with Steve Marsden through CIVT, and Western herbal medicine with various teachers including David Winston; specialty acupuncture training with Dr. Are Thoresen with a particular focus on cancer; training on pulse diagnosis with Ann Cecil-Sterman; and training in Theta healing, which is an energy technique that has been very beneficial for patients with behavior issues.  She was also fortunate to get to work with holistic veterinary specialists Dr. Angela Erickson-Greco at Animal Health Practice and then with Dr. Allys Maybank at Frontier Wellness Center during her first 10 years in CT.  Her patients are the best teachers of all.

She is fortunate to live with an incredibly charming dog, (corgi cross), as well as a very tolerant big black cat, two kids to keep her on her toes, and a fabulous husband who occasionally manages to get her to slow down.

Tong Ren is based on a belief that disease is related to interruptions, or blockages, in the body’s natural flow of chi, neural bioelectricity, blood, or hormones. Tong Ren seeks to remove these blockages, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, even when illnesses are chronic, debilitating, or otherwise untreatable. -- http://TomTam.com

Healing, Alignment and the Importance of Love (CANCELED)

Please note: Due to poor weather conditions, this event is canceled, but will be rescheduled at a future date to be determined. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Special Guest: Dr. Rodney Taft

Tickets are $15.

Description of Event:

The Be In Wellness team proudly welcomes Dr. Rodney Taft to the panel. Rodney will be speaking on healing, alignment and the importance of love.

Here is a sneak peek on what he will be discussing.

*Healing is facilitated by our heartfelt intention and feeling to bring benefit to another. This is true no matter how we choose to go about healing. Whether we choose a holistic approach, an allopathic approach, a Traditional Chinese Medicine approach or a massage approach, always the best thing to do is to have a heartfelt approach towards the person who needs our help. Perhaps this is compassion. Perhaps this is love.

*The mind which is most commonly experienced in the head, and the heart, which is most commonly experienced as the place of deep feeling in the chest, can be aligned with each other. The heart can infuse the mind with love, and the mind can surrender itself into service of the heart's love.

*This alignment allows the pure energies of spirit to flow more easily through us.

About Dr. Rodney Taft

Rodney received his M.D. from New York Medical College in 1988. He is also a graduate of Swedish Institute of Massage (1989) and Rolf Institute (1990). He has also undergone numerous other trainings focusing on healing, bodywork, and meditative practices.

He is a long time friend of the Wu Healing Center, and has traveled to China with Dr. Wu, works out of his Maynard, MA practice and he's also in the "Who Am I" documentary by Caleb Vinson.
